July-December RTO Hyderabad collection up 35 percent

The Regional Tax Office (RTO), Hyderabad collected Rs 1894.58 million under Direct Taxes during the first half (July-Dec) of financial year 2008-09, against the target of Rs 1880.00 million set by the Federal Board of Revenue (ERR) for this period.
The collection during this fist half has shown a growth of 35.46 per cent over the corresponding period last year, when the collection stood at Rs l398.63l million.
The field offices collected arrears demand at Rs 17.368 million and current demand at Rs 19.667 million against the last year's collections at Rs 8.219 and Rs 2.097 million respectively showing an increase of 111 per cent and 837 per cent respectively.
It may be pointed out that due to vigorous publicity campaign 1037 taxpayers filed declarations and paid taxes of Rs 80.395 million under Investment Tax Scheme (ITS-2008) introduced by the Federal Board of Revenue during this period from Ju1y, 2008 to December, 2008.
Khalid Siddiqui, Director General, Regional Tax Office, Hyderabad said that all out efforts would he made to achieve the annual target of Direct Taxes for the financial year 2008-09.-PR
