19 Jan, 2009

President Karachi Transport Action Committee and Anjumane Ettehad Bus Malikan Karachi, Muhammad Ashraf Banglori and other office-bearers have demanded of the government to slash petroleum prices as per decline in the prices in international market.
In a joint statement issued on Sunday, Ashraf Banglori, Chaudhary Mazhar Hussain, Lala Sultan, Tanzeem Khan and Nazeer Banglori regretted that despite enormous cut in oil prices in the international market, oil is being sold at exorbitant rates, causing inflation and unemployment in the country.
They criticised the government and said it had not met the expectation of the people. People are only remembered at the time of election only, they added.
They demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to take notice of the issue and play their active role in bringing the oil prices down. They also called upon the parliamentarians to pass bills in the assemblies for alleviation of poverty and slashing oil prices to reasonable level.
