'Government prioritising provision of modern healthcare'

Punjab Minister for Population Welfare, Neelam Jabbar Chaudhry has said that the government is giving top priority to the provision of modern healthcare facilities to all segments of the society. While talking to a delegation of family physicians on Monday, Neelam maintained that family physicians are the backbone of our healthcare delivery system, because they are playing vital role in provision of healthcare facilities to the masses.
Apart from this, family physicians are also contributing to the business activities at local level, as they are providing jobs to many people at their doorsteps. The Minister urged the family physicians to join hands with the government in its efforts aimed at eliminating the quackery and also adopt reasonable professional audit system. Further, she said that the government is spending Rs 35 billion on the provision of standardised healthcare facilities to the masses.
