42 butchers held for violation of Slaughter Control Act

On the directions of Divisional Commissioner Zahid Saeed and DCO Saeed Wahlah, Veterinary Doctors visited 1,502 butchers shops to check the quality of meat during the campaign to stop the sale of unwholesome meat. During the visits 581 butchers were challaned while 273 FIR were registered against the sellers of unwholesome meat and violating the Slaughter Control Act 1963.
While disclosing details of raids EDO Agriculture Rao Farman Ali and DO Livestock Dr Abdur Rehman told that 42 butchers were arrested on violation of Slaughter Control Act 1963. 368-kg substandard meat worth Rs 46,000 were destroyed. Meanwhile District President Consumers Association Faisalabad A. R. Razi appreciated the efforts made by the Punjab government and District Administration against unauthorised slaughter house and butchers selling substandard meat. Razi hoped that such campaign would also be launched against adulteration in daily use items.
