BoK to open Islamic banking branch in Rawalpindi on January 27

The Bank of Khyber (BoK) Islamic banking branch will be formally inaugurated by the NWFP Minister for Finance, Engineer Mohammad Hamayun Khan, Bank Road Rawalpindi on January 27, 2009. The BoK is the first public sector bank, which started Islamic banking services in 2003 under the State Bank of Pakistan guidelines.
Presently BoK is having 34 branches networking throughout the country. Out of these, 16 branches are doing Islamic banking providing Islamic banking services to the clients. Apart from Islamic banking branch at Rawalpindi, BoK is also providing the said services in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Faisalabad and in all major cities of NWFP.-PR
