Senator Khalid Soomro visits Sindh university

Senator Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro on Monday visited University of Sindh and held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Mazhar-ul-Haq Siddiqui in his Office at Allama I I Kazi Campus Jamshoro. The Vice Chancellor thanks the members of Senate for his visit to the University and informed him about enrolment of students at Graduate, Post Graduate and M Phil/leading PhD programme.
The Vice Chancellor also briefed the member Senate about the on going construction and research projects at the campus. The member Senate informed the Vice Chancellor that his visit to the University is to get information about the problems facing by the University. The Vice Chancellor told him that a large number students coming from Thar and Mirpurkhas areas facing lot of problems in transportation. He said that the University of Sindh has already requested the Federal Government to start a shuttle Train from Mirpurkhas to Jamshoro Railway station that the students studying in University of Sindh, LUMHS and MUET as well as people visiting LMC Hospital will be benefited.
The Vice Chancellor further informed that the University of Sindh is facing a problem of the shortage of the Houses for the employees at the Campus. He said that due to shortage of funds since 1988 no new quarter or Bungalow was constructed for the employees while 100 percent ratio of the employees is increased during the period. He requested the Senator to help in providing funding for the construction of the houses for the teachers as well as employees.
The Vice Chancellor also requested the him that Human Resource Development for the University is so much essential and it is need of the time to provide resources to faculty to do PhD. He said that many teachers after qualifying test are waiting for funds to send them abroad for the PhD and added that due to deficit in annual budget and cut in the funds the University is facing lot of problems. He praised the honourable Senator to help the University of Sindh for funds for the Human Resource Development that the University can send the faculty abroad for PhD.
Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro appreciating University's progress promised that he will talk with the concerned Ministries to resolve the University problems and to provide funds for the faculty scholarships and construction of the houses. Khalid Mehmood also visited Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and Mehran University of Engineering and Technology.
