Killing of Punjab University student condemned

An emergency meeting of Punjab University Deans Committee held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran on Tuesday. The meeting strongly condemned the killing of PU Department of Physics BSc Electronics student Osama Ilyas and demanded the arrest of culprits as soon as possible.
The meeting termed the incident extremely unfortunate and expressed grief and sorrow on it besides expressing solidarity with the deceased parents. VC Dr Mujahid Kamran also talked on telephone to acting Governor Justice Zahid Hussain Shah and Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif in this regard.
The chief minister was in Islamabad and on his instructions, the Home Secretary talked to Dr Mujahid Kamran. Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that student wings of political parties promote fights, quarrels and extremism among students and they are responsible for violence incidents on campus not only in Punjab University but almost in all others universities of the country.
He said now the time has come that all political parties sit together and think seriously on the issue of the student wings of political parties. He said that the incidents of violence were affecting the congenial peaceful atmosphere in the educational institutions and some serious practical steps must be taken by all the political parties in this regard.
