Root causes of terrorism

21 Jan, 2009

When we look around at our society, we come to know that we are witnessing an era that is teemed with the threat of terrorism. No public place is safe. Even worship places are unsafe. People worship under high security measures. Mankind has lost its dignity. There is terror all around the world in all its manifestations. Terrorism has became a hot issue after the terrible and famous incident of 11th September 2001.
Many leaders spoke against terrorism, many famous writers wrote about disasters of terrorism but very few of them pointed out the root causes of this curse. Terrorism opened its eyes in poverty, nourished in the lap of disappointment, starvation and rejection, learned from injustice and cruelty, spent its youth in crying for the rights that it was deprived of, developed a nature to harm every one who was responsible for its pitiful condition, crossed certain limits and became extremist, made friends who had same criminal aims, developed new ways to operate according to the time and conditions, changed many names and shapes and now it is standing in front of us in full strengths.
Its history indicates the causes of its existence. These causes include poverty, hunger, lack of opportunities and guidance, injustice, favouritism and last but not the least ignorance.
If a gardener wants to eliminate some dodders that have grown in his beautiful garden then he must eradicate them and also care about the causes of their growth so that they may never ever grow. This analogy explains the perfect ways to save our generations from the curse of terrorism. Authorities must eliminate these causes in order to make a terror-free environment.
They must organise a proper system for circulation of wealth in society, they must provide ample opportunities of employment and growth to all irrespective of ones origin and religion, they must organise the judicial system and they must provide proper education to all. Let us all pray to Allah "May this appear to be the year of elimination of terrorism forever from this beautiful and peaceful world and may mankind regain the dignity that it deserves".
