The federal government is acting fast on having a revival package for the textile industry within days, told sources. According to the sources, the Federal Advisor on Finance Shaukat Tarin has met the Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) a day earlier and instructed him to move fast on having a financial relief for the textile industry.
It is learnt on good authority that the Governor SBP was in a meeting with the Pakistan Banking Association (PBA) to work out a comprehensive package for textile industry. The meeting was underway in Karachi until the filing of this report. Sources are of the view that the ongoing world-wide economic meltdown has given an opportunity to Pakistan to proceed fast in textile sector.
According to them, a strong 'political will' on the part of government would enable the industry to move fast on capturing the world markets. They have further hoped that the federal advisor on finance would honour his commitment of coming up with a workable solution within days and not weeks.
