US embassy delegation meets UVAC vice chancellor

A delegation of the US Embassy, Islamabad led by its Agricultural Attaché, Joseph R Carrol called on the Vice Chancellor, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz on Thursday and discussed the areas of collaboration with him.
The VC briefed the delegation about the academic, research, training, extension and development activities of the university. The delegation members discussed with the VC the possibility of providing funds to the UVAS out of the USAID for training of human resource, research, animal nutrition and disease prevention, especially the foot and mouth diseases.
It was decided that the UVAS would develop a project for funding from the US for training of staff in the US, exchange of faculty members between the UVAS and various American universities and technology transfer through conducting training programmes.
The US Agricultural Attaché assured that the US will consider the possibility of providing funds for establishment of an endowment fund in the UVAS, for physical and human resource development to accredit the UVAS by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Deans, directors and senior faculty members of the UVAS were also present in the meeting. Meanwhile, the Institute of Continuing Education and Extension of the UVAS arranged a lecture on 'How to Write a Scientific Paper' in the seminar room of the University today.
Professor Dr Irshad Hussain delivered lecture in the session that was largely attended by faculty members and postgraduate students. Professor Irshad said that a scientific writing should be as clear and simple as possible. He spoke about how to write a title, an abstract and how to cite references, design effective tables, what should be tabulated, etc.
