The Pakistan Muslim League-Q believes that the people, who have rejected the offer of unity of Muslim League, will repent on lying off their thinking. PML-Q central leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said this while addressing his party legislators, hailing from different districts, here on Thursday.
"Those who have rejected the offer of unity of Muslim League will realise their mistake at a later stage, but at that time, people will not be ready to forgive them," Elahi said. He added that the proposal of unity of Muslim League was floated in the interests of country, its people and Muslim League, but it had been made a joke.
It may be mentioned that differences between the PML-N and PML-Q for an alliance could not be removed and leaders of both sides confirmed that their talks for an alliance had come to an end. Nawaz Sharif, while addressing a party meeting in Lahore on Wednesday also categorically ruled out any possibility of alliance with the Q-League.
However, common friends of both the PML-N and PML-Q leadership are still making efforts for unity of Muslim League. Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that leaders of both factions of PML were still in contact over the issue of repealing controversial 17th amendment and co-operation in forthcoming Senate elections.
A senior PML-N leader Pervaiz Malik said his party was seeking co-operation from all parties, including the PML-Q, over repeal of the 17th amendment. He ruled out any possibility of merger or alliance between both the factions of the PML in near future.
Pervaiz Elahi further said that those, who rejected the offer of unity of Muslim League, had always adopted policies against the wishes of sincere Muslim League leaders and workers. He said that making differences between N-League and Pakistan People's Party because of a dispute between the Centre and Punjab was complicating things.
He said that people were facing starvation, while Punjab rulers were using resources and public transport for their public meetings. Elahi said: "It is the responsibility of the provincial government to keep under control prices of essential items and commodities."
He further said that allied rulers were showing indifferent attitude towards the resolution of problems of the people, who were disappointed with so-called democrats. He advised them to give preference to the national interest refrain from putting the country's interests at stake for their vested interests.
The PML-Q leader further said that rulers in Punjab must adopt democratic approach to make democracy stronger. He alleged that efforts were being made to change the loyalties of our companions but they would never succeed. It may also be mentioned that PML-Q President Chaudhry Shuja'at Hussain had already announced that the PML-Q would never compromise on its identity.
