The Swiss franc fell further against the dollar on Thursday, after the Swiss National Bank vice-chairman said the bank could intervene to weaken the franc if necessary to support the economy. "The Swiss franc weakened materially on the back of the latest speech by SNB vice Hildebrand," said UBS analyst Reto Huenerwadel.
The franc was 0.5 percent lower against the dollar compared to the New York close, trading at 1.1553 per dollar. The franc was near flat against the euro, trading at 1.5018 per euro, after shedding more than 1.5 percent on Wednesday in the wake of Hildebrand's comments.
