All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association on Friday blocked G T Road at Sawan to register protest over the ban on entry of oil tankers into Rawalpindi city and oil depots without passes. All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association Chairman Aslam Niazi told Business Recorder that the Station Commander Rawalpindi had imposed ban on the entry of oil tankers in the Rawalpindi city and oil depots that was unfair and had resulted in many difficulties for them.
He said that oil tankers had to wait for the whole day to get the passes to enter the city and oil depots that was resulting not only in wastage of time but also making it difficult for them to reach oil depots in time. He said that the record of oil tankers was being maintained and therefore, it did not need to issue entry pass.
There are three oil depots located at Sehala, Chaklala and workshop 502 and it had been impossible for oil tankers to reach these places without entry passes, he said adding that these oil tankers were not allowed to move during the day time and were being asked to reach oil depots at night.
He said that the association had written a letter to the Advisor to Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources on January 15 to resolve the issue but he had not responded as yet. He said that they would continue their protest until the condition of entry pass is withdrawn. He said that the association would hold a press conference today (Saturday) to put their demands before the government.
