BZU to get billions in funds due to Prime Minister's interest: vice chancellor

Vice Chancellor, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Professor Dr Zafar Ullah Khan has said that the university would get funds of worth billions due to the special interest of Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gillani. Talking to a press conference here on Thursday, he said that higher education commission had reduced the funds of BZU along with other universities of the country due to which many projects has been suspended which were in the pipeline.
Dr Zafar Ullah said that Prime Minister has also given the sanction of Rs 880 million out of the fund of Rs 1 billion for the faculty development. He has also promised to provide another Rs 1 billion fund for Gillani Law College, Agri Engineering, Veterinary Science, Telecomm-unication and Biotechnology departments in 2009-10.
He further told that Job Fair 2009 is going to be held in the university organised by Centre for Community Relations and Human Resource Development, Bahauddin Zakariya University on January 24, 2009. Representatives from more than 50 companies will participate in the fair which will hold on the spot interviews of the candidates, he added.
More than 11,000 graduates would be expected to participate in the job fair whereas, last year 48 companies and 6,000 graduates had participated in the job fair. Dr Zafar Ullah said that about 15,000 companies are attached with the Rozi Project under which the graduates of the university would be registered due to which these registered companies would firstly contact the registered candidates for jobs.
