Prime Minister for timely provision of fertiliser to farmers

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has directed the Minister for Industries to ensure timely provision of fertiliser to the farmers across the country. The Prime Minister was talking to the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, who met him on Friday.
The Minister briefed the Prime Minister about the distribution of urea fertiliser in all parts of the country. He was also told that the country has approximately 2.5 lakh tonnes of urea which after landing at the Gwadar deep sea port is being distributed all over the country through the outlets of NFC and Utility Stores, in co-ordination with provincial governments.
The Prime Minister said the government is attaching immense importance to the wheat crop because of which subsidy worth Rs 27 billion has already been provided for the timely provision of DAP. With the announcement of support price of Rs 950 per 40 kg wheat has been made a cash crop for the farmers, he added.
The Prime Minister also said the government is taking all necessary steps for promoting the agriculture sector in the country and for providing increased income opportunities for the farming community. Wattoo apprised the Prime Minister of his visits to the Karachi, Peshawar, Multan and Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry and conveyed their concerns relating to trade and industry.
