Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig Federal Advisor to Government of Pakistan on Textile Industry thanked Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for acceding to his request to provide some immediate relief to the textile sector. Dr Baig met Prime Minister on last Wednesday at Prime Minister House, Islamabad and requested for one year moratorium for the payment of loans of textile sector.
Advisor on Textile met Governor State Bank last week and strongly advocated to extend one year deferment of loan payments of textile sector, reduction in mark up, payment of R&D for the shipments made upto 30th June 2008 and 3 per cent interest disbursement to the spinning sector already approved in the cabinet meeting of 5th November 08. During the meeting, the Prime Minister called Governor State Bank and notification to this effect was issued yesterday.-PR
