Red carpet welcome for deposed Chief Justice pledged

Lawyers, political and civil society activists pledge to give red carpet welcome to sacked chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday when he is scheduled to speak to All Pakistan Lawyers Convention organised by Punjab Bar Council, said Lahore High Court Bar Association secretary Rana Asadullah Khan.
Punjab government has announced to provide the Chief Justice of Pakistan's protocol to him who would be driven from the airport to the venue at Fane Road through Shaara-e-Quaid-e-Azam.
While talking to the newsmen Rana said lawyers, civil rights and political activists, traders, businessmen, doctors and students are expected to reach in large number at Allama Iqbal International Airport where Iftikhar Muhammad would land at 11 am from Islamabad. Throughout the route political parties, and others have set up welcome stage besides affixing welcome banners and big portraits of Justice Chaudhry.
At the airport, Justice Chaudhry would be received by President SCBA Ali Ahmad Kurd, Vice President Punjab Bar Council, Muhammad Aslam Sindhu, former President SCBA and Chairman National Co-ordination Committee Aitzaz Ahsan, Members Pakistan Bar Council Hamid Khan and Hafiz Abdul Rahman Ansari, President LHCBA Anwar Kamal, the Secretary Rana Asadullah Khan and a number of other lawyers and supporters of different parties.
Lahore Bar Association president Rana Zia Abdul Rehman said that a procession of buses and motorcycles in his leadership would also proceed to the airport to well-come Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary.
