Gilani to lay foundations of Head Muhammad Wala bridge on Chenab

Secretary Communication, Muhammad Sharif Khan has said that Head Muhammad Wala bridge is being constructed on River Chenab on the special direction of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and he is going to lay its foundation stone in his visit to Multan. He said this in a press conference here on late Saturday in Multan Press Club.
Telling the details of the project, he said that with the construction of this bridge, the distance between Khushab and Multan would decrease about 40km. This bridge would cost more than Rs 3 billion and lot of employment opportunities would be produced with this mega project. He further said that another main project is the construction of Ahmadwala bridge which would be constructed on River Sutlej and the estimated cost of this project is also about Rs 3 billion.
Special attention would be paid on the quality of these projects", he added. To a question, he said that M-4 is the other project which is Faisalabad-Multan motorway and people would get better job and transportation facilities with the construction of this motorway. With the completion of this project, it would take just 6 hours to cover the distance from Islamabad to Multan.
He said that we are paying special attention especially towards the betterment and development of southern districts because these districts are far lacking behind in development as compared with the rest of districts. With the completion of above stated mega projects, this region would prosper in agriculture, communication, employment etc.
