Tanzanian coffee prices mostly firmed at this week's auction, helped by improved quality of beans offered, traders said on Friday. The state-run Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB) said 46,421 60-kg bags were offered for sale, with 34,822 bags sold. At the last auction 23,369 60-kg bags were offered for sale, with 20,270 bags sold.
Benchmark grade AA fetched $142.00-$101.00 per 50-kg bag, compared with $125.00-$71.00 per bag at the previous sale. Grade A sold at $137.00-$96.00 per 50-kg bag, compared with $124.60-$62.00 per bag at the last auction. "The better quality coffees were definitely trading. There's demand around for the good cupping coffees," said a trader at a leading export company.
