Curfew imposed in Swat areas: eight militants killed

The security forces have imposed curfew for indefinite period in different areas of restive Swat district on Sunday. According to a press release of Swat Media Centre here, curfew has been imposed in Bara Bandai, Koza Bandai, Nangolai, Chota Kalam and Shakardara for indefinite period since 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Any body and vehicle violating curfew orders will be shoot at sight. No vehicle to move in the area during curfew, it said. People have been requested to remain in homes and avoid movement and fully observe curfew orders. Meanwhile, security forces on Sunday killed eight militants in Swat valley, where the army is battling extremists waging a violent campaign for Shariat, officials said.
Troops launched a pre-dawn operation against a militant hideout in the town of Ningolai, a military spokesman said. "The clash left eight militants dead including their commander Nur Bakhtiar," said the spokesman, who requested anonymity. Heavy arms and ammunition were recovered from the hideout, he added.
