First nursing education department established at AIMC

With a view to providing higher education and practical training to nurses, the first Nursing Education Department was set up at Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) Lahore. Dr Ghazzala Shaheen has been appointed its Project Director.
Talking to media men on Monday, The Principal of AIMC and Jinnah Hospital, Professor Dr Javed Akram said that the purpose of setting up the nursing department was to educate the nurses about latest medical treatment besides, imparting training to them on modern lines. He said nurses in the developed countries were considered the backbone of medical profession. They played vital role in management of the wards in hospitals, he said.
