President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday expressed his profound grief over the sad demise of country's noted authority on South Asian archaeology and history Dr Ahmad Hasan Dani. President Zardari paid rich tributes to late Professor Dani, 89, and described his demise as a great loss to the country and the nation.
Dr Dani was under treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where he breathed for the last time today. The President said Dr Dani, a recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance, was the foremost authority on archaeology and history and in his death the country has lost an eminent historian and left behind a vacuum that would be hard to fill.
