Calamity affected areas: tax recovery suspended in Umerkot

The Secretary to Government of Sindh, Revenue Department after declaring the 25 dehs of Taluka Umerkot as "Calamity Affected Areas" by the Relief Department due to non occurrence of sufficient rains during monsoon 2008 and the decisions taken in the meeting held on 23-01-2009 under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister of Sindh Tuesday.
The Chief Minister of Sindh announced to suspend recovery of Water Rates, Land Tax, Local tax, assessed on area sown in the season of Kharif 2008-09 in these dehs which includes Kaplore, Lala Bah, Sonhari, Kacholi, Khalrai Thar, Behrai Thar, Kharoro Thar, Umerkot Thar, Vehro Thar, Diat Bah, Janhero Thar, Sabhri Thar, Sadoori Thar, Sinhoi Thar, Thar Samoon, Nabisar Thar, Rajar Thar, Rajari Thar, Dinore, Mokhal Bah, Doodhar, Shekhro, Laplo, Horingo and Chhore Thar until further orders.
Besides the recovery of past years, arrears of Provincial Government departments which were due to be recovered from the crop of Kharif 2008-09 have also been postponed for a period of one year in the above dehs of Taluka Umerkot.
