Multan Division chief of People's Labour Bureau Malik Bashir Ahmed on Tuesday welcomed the parameters of the new privatisation policy for selling public sector enterprises under the concept of public-private partnership (PPP). Talking to newsmen, he said the new privatisation policy would bring in best practices and latest technologies to improve performance and increase efficiency.
He hoped that the basic objective of the new policy would be to put national resources and assets to optimal use and in particular unleash the productive potential inherent in state-owned enterprises (SoEs). He also welcomed idea of empowering the employees of state-owned enterprises and giving them shares in their respective units.
He also demanded of the Privatisation Commission board to form a committee to examine and identify outstanding claims pertaining to golden handshake (GHS), voluntary separation scheme (VSS) and gratuity of workers of privatised units.
