28 Jan, 2009

Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has expressed satisfaction on the ongoing military operation in Swat and Tribal Areas, saying that the forces were succeeding in fight against terrorism in Swat and Tribal Areas while people would see a change within few weeks.
"We are on ground and fighting out the militants and have taken control of Mingora and you would see a clear change in three to four weeks' time," Malik said while talking to the reporters here outside the Parliament House on Tuesday. He said the law and order situation in NWFP and FATA is improving. "I do not make tall claims and the people are the best judge. When we took over, there were rampant suicide bombings across the country. Situation is much improved now," he remarked.
To a question about the increase in activities of defunct Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in Punjab, Malik said the Punjab government was alive to the situation and the law and order situation was under control.
Answering to another question regarding the new lists of high value targets released by Taliban, Malik said the list was no more an issue. "The terrorists were also targeting the politicians in recent past. We would have to fight the terrorists together," he said. The Advisor urged the media not to glorify the terrorists. "I appeal to the media not to glorify the terrorists. Let's not make them heros. Let's fight terrorism together," he added.
