The Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mukesh Kumar Chawla has, while taking notice of newspaper reports, warned that if any liquor shop is found open on a Friday, not only its licence will be cancelled but strict action will also be taken against concerned ETO.
The Minister said that there is legal ban on opening of liquor shops on Fridays and for its violation, cases will be instituted against the owners. He sought a report from DG Excise and Taxation and also ordered immediate action against liquor shops opened on Friday.
