Sindh NAB facilitates handing over of plots to allottees

28 Jan, 2009

After a lapse of almost 31 years, original allottees of plots in Gulshan-e-Roomi were handed over possession on the Intervention of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sindh, here on Tuesday. The project, situated in the limits of Malir Cantonment Board, was launched by developer Humair Associates, Karachi, in 1978.
It comprises of about 2,600 plots of different categories, and was scheduled for completion by 1983. But even after a lapse of 31 years the plots were not handed over to the allottees, who were kept running to secure allotment.
Finally, the allottees lodged complaints with NAB, Sindh, which initiated an inquiry in 2008. After collection of entire record from the developer and after conducting an intense inquiry, the developer finally came forward to hand over physical possession of the plots to the allottees. NAB Sindh facilitated the entire process and the developer firm gave an undertaking by which it undertook to hand over the plots to the allottees at original rates.
A general public notice was published in four leading dailies in English, Urdu and Sindhi through which the allottees were informed to take over physical possession of their plots after payment of dues as per the terms and conditions of the undertaking.
Letters to the complainants were issued inviting them to attend the ceremony for handing over physical possession of their plots on January 27. A ceremony was held at the site and a total of 200 plots were handed over to the original allottees by the developer firm in the presence of NAB Sindh officials.-PR
