A 20-year-old Colorado man has been indicted for threatening to kill President Barack Obama, a spokesman for the US Attorney's office said here Thursday. Timothy Ryan Gutierrez is alleged to have sent an email to the FBI in Washington threatening to kill Obama roughly eight days before his inauguration on January 20, spokesman Jeffrey Dorschner said.
"I'm going to assassinate the new president of the United States of America. P.S. You have 48 hours to stop it from happening," Gutierrez said in his according to his indictment filed in federal court in Denver on Tuesday.
Gutierrez, of Cortez, in the south-west corner of Colorado, is not yet in custody, Dorschner said, although authorities know where he is. According to the indictment Gutierrez used an instrument of interstate commerce - an email - to knowingly and maliciously convey false information about an alleged attempt to kill or harm an individual.
