Legal notice sent to Chief Justice

A bar member, Tariq Aziz Malik has sent a legal notice to the Chief Justice (CJ) of Pakistan, Abdul Hameed Dogar requesting him to strictly follow the principles for appointment of superior court judges laid down by the apex court.
In his notice, Malik stated that according to the Supreme Court judgements in Al-Jihad Trust case of 1996, the apex court laid down that appointments of these judges should be made in proprietary manner. Further, no political activist should be inducted as judge, while no relationship shall be considered while making the appointments.
At the time of making judges appointments, the legal knowledge and character of such person shall be taken into consideration. He requested to make the appointments strictly in accordance with the principles, laid down by the SC, otherwise, he shall move to a court of law in this respect.
