Punjab AIG summoned in a murder case

01 Feb, 2009

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Additional Inspector General (AIG) (Investigation and Legal) Punjab, to a hearing on February 02 in a petition filed by one Abdul Razzad challenging investigation of a murder case of his son, Babar. The court also directed the Investigation Officer (IO) and SHO, Sadar Wazirabad to appear before the court on the hearing day.
The petitioner contended that his son was abducted and killed by the respondent police officers. The FIR of the case was registered on the direction of High Court following a lot of reluctance on part of the police. The LHC had ordered second transfer of investigation on November 20, 2008 but it seemed that order had also not been complied with, the court observed.
The judge further held that despite court orders, section 30 PPC had not been added in the FIR. The court also observed that due to mysterious and insolent attitude of police officials involved in this matter, court is constrained to summon AIG Investigation and Legal.
