02 Feb, 2009

Indian Minister of State for Commerce, Industry and Power Jairam Ramesh said on Sunday that new initiatives to enhance trade with Pakistan would remain suspended. "Trade improving initiatives with Pakistan cannot be resumed till the conspirators of Mumbai terror attacks are brought to justice," Ramesh said while talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function in Shimla.
"Earlier, India was planning to export tea to Pakistan through the Wahga border crossing. After the Mumbai attacks, the plans were put on hold. The government is now exploring the Afghanistan and Iran markets," media reports quoting him said.
India has put on hold trade talks with Pakistan after the Mumbai terror attacks. However, trade between both the countries is continuing as usual.
