Further remand for Kasab

03 Feb, 2009

An Indian court on Monday extended the detention of the lone surviving gunman captured during the deadly attacks on Mumbai so that he can be questioned further, a senior police officer said. The officer in charge of the investigation, Mumbai Police crime branch chief Rakesh Maria, told AFP that a judge had granted a police request to hold Mohammed Ajmal Amir Iman - also referred to as Kasab - until February 13.
Iman has been in custody since November 26, the first night of the siege of India's financial and entertainment capital that left 165 people dead and more than 300 injured by the time it ended 60 hours later. Police have up to 90 days from the date of his arrest to file charges.
