06 Feb, 2009

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has announced to create merit-based Education Support Fund with the sole objective of extending a helping hand to those talented students, who cannot continue their higher education due to financial constraints.
The LCCI Executive Committee took the decision for the sake of promotion of education on one hand, while one the other it would help harnessing the talent. The LCCI Executive Committee members were unanimous on setting up of Education Support Fund saying that the illiteracy is the mother of all ills and it is the duty of all segments of the society to play their role in promoting education to face the leading nations of the world. They were of the view that all the nations were locked in a struggle to gain competitive advantage over their counterparts.
Thus, if the strategic plan is the vehicle for achieving such a success, the education is the engine that drives the plan. The LCCI President, Mian Muzaffar Ali said that the country should prepare professionals with required skills who can quickly add value to their professional or corporate organisations.
