Indonesian shares closed 1.7 percent up on Friday with higher oil prices spurring buying in commodity-related stocks, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index rose 11.57 points to 1,350.64 in moderate volume. "There has been some fresh buying in commodity-related stocks after prices such as nickel and coal mildly rose on higher oil prices," a trader told Dow Jones Newswires.
Coal miner Bumi Resources jumped 24 percent to 680 rupiah while its rival Indo Tambangraya rose 5.1 percent to 10,200. Heavyweight Telkom rose 1.6 percent to 6,400 rupiah. The rupiah closed steady at 11,800 to the dollar.
