Range-bound trading was seen on the interbank market on Saturday as the rupee shed two paisa against dollar for buying at 79.20 while it did not move any side for selling at 79.22, dealers said. No big variation was seen in the rates during the rush hours but it is likely that the rupee may not retain its firmness against dollar in days to come, they said.
In the New York the US dollar rose versus yen as a report showing deterioration in the US labour market boosted investors' expectations for further government intervention to stimulate the economy.
