Female managers to head 10 percent NBP branches

As many as 10 percent of the branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) would be headed by the female managers, as they are performing quite well. This was stated by NBP's Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Chief, Human Resources Management and Administration Group, Dr Mirza Abrar Baig.
He further pointed out that at present 60 branches of NBP are headed by the female managers and they are performing very well. The NBP has over 1,200 branches all over the country and abroad.
Dr Baig pointed out that females constitute 20 percent of the intake of management trainee at the NBP, which is the strongest public sector bank in the country with its assets amounting to Rs700 billion. He informed that the NBP was contributing significantly towards the women empowerment.
Dr Baig also referred to the contributions of the NBP to the social sector saying that it was actively participating in the promotion of cultural and sports activities. The allocation towards this head was over Rs100 million annually. Moreover, Rs200 million was spent on helping and rehabilitating the affectees of the 2005 earthquake in the northern areas and Azad Kashmir.
