Malaysian share prices rose 0.8 percent on Tuesday as investors placed money in selected heavyweights, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index gained 6.88 points to close at 903.52 on volume of 429.86 million shares worth 732.82 million ringgit (204.19 million dollars). There were 270 gainers, 189 losers and 196 shares unchanged.
"All eyes will be on the American economic stimulus and bank bailout plans," a dealer told Dow Jones Newswires. IOI Corp rose 2.6 percent to 3.94 ringgit as Sime Darby inched up 2.6 percent to 5.75 ringgit. TMI dropped 2.4 percent to 3.26 ringgit and BAT slid 1.7 percent to 44.25 ringgit.
