Urs of Shah Latif: traditional folklore 'Sughran Je Katchehri' held

On the first day of the 265th annual Urs celebration of the great saint poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (R.A), a traditional folklore "Sughran Je Katchahri" held at Excellence Center at Bhitshah evening. The Sughars from all over Sindh participated in the Katchahri, in which proverbs, quotations, riddles were shared by the persons belonging to the folk literature of Sindh.
Secretary Culture Shams Jafrani was the chief guest, former Director Information Sindh Dur Mohammad Kamal Solangi, Director General Culture Mohammad Ali Manjhi and other personalities also participated. Talking to the literary people on the occasion, Secretary Culture Jafrani said that it is the matter of great pleasure that such Katchahri was being conducted since last many years on the eve of annual Urs celebration of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
He further said that Shah Sain had selected the characters of Sindh in his poetry those were being referred by Sughars in their folklore. He appreciated the efforts of writers, poets and Sughars, who, he said, transformed the art of folklore to the next generation.
Secretary culture further said that Latif Award is given in three categories every year but this time the award will also be given to the best Sughar of the Katchahri. He said that such type of Katchahri will be organised in big cities of the province aimed to encourage the folklore in Sindh.
Before this, Dur Mohammad Kamal, the host of the event, briefed about the art of folklore and told the difficulties faced by Sughars. While the renowned Sughars Faqeer Zahid Hussain Mahesar, Rahmatullah Abbasi and Haji Ali Nawaz Wagan presented the books on folklore written by them to the Secretary Culture.
