ICE Canadian canola futures ended lower on Friday, following losses in soyabean futures. March canola closed down $5.00 at $423 per tonne on a volume of 9,599 lots, and May ended down $4.80 at $431.20 on a volume of 7,237. Canola remained underpinned by good Chinese demand, but fell as Chicago Board of Trade soyabean futures slid on improved crop weather in Argentina.
CBOT benchmark March soyabeans ended down 13 cents at $9.55-1/2 on Friday. In afternoon trading, the Canadian dollar was at $1.2377 or 80.80 cents to the US dollar, compared with Thursday's close at $1.2448, or 80.33 cents, to the US dollar.
