A science laboratory was inaugurated at Qamar ul Islam School in the Punjab Colony here. The Naib Nazim of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK), Ms Nasreen Jalil, performed the inauguration.
The Managing Director of a social welfare organisation Friends of Literacy and Mass Education (Flame), Mansoor Alam was also present on the occasion. A CDGK statement on Sunday said that the Flame updated the school some eight months ago.
As many as 700 youngsters- both boys and girls, are acquiring education at this school in two shifts of morning and afternoon. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Nasreen Jalil appreciated the efforts done by the Flame.
She said that if various organisations and individuals update various schools in the same manner then the environment and academic standards of many of the educational institutions could be improved further.
The Naib Nazim of the CDGK also highlighted the significance of the public-private partnership. She pointed out that the education and health, are the priority sectors of the CDGK. Ms. Jalil said that the CDGK has buildings where vocational training centres can be established, she also asked the social welfare organisations and well to do people to come forward and collaborate with the CDGK for the purpose.
