Federal Minister for Population Welfare Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that government is working on baling out the country from the multifarious problems being faced by it in light of the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Addressing a big public meeting in Adultgarah after inauguration of gas supply project on Monday night, she said that welfare of the masses was on top of the priority list of the government.
She said that government was making strenuous efforts for resolving problems being confronted by the women folk on war footings basis. Women rights would be fully protected and discriminations against them would be eliminated, she vowed. She maintained that eradication of poverty was foremost priority of the government, adding that in this regard Benazir Income Support Programme has been started with an amount of Rs 34 billion and under first phase of the programme 3.5million deserving families would be supported.
