Two-day Nati-onal Workshop on 'Emergency Preparedness and Response for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Sector' will begin on Wednesday (today). The workshop will be attended by the representatives of the United Nations agencies, Federal and Provincial governments including AJK and Fata, NGOs and other development partners.
The two-day event will focus on the humanitarian reforms, national and provincial co-ordination, Water and Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) Contingency Planning with specific processes in Pakistan and achievements in these sectors.
The speakers would highlight WASH Emergency Response and the cluster with response to earthquake 2005, roles, responsibilities and accountability of WASH Cluster and Inter Cluster coordination, lesson learned/ reflections from current emergencies and information management. The final session of the workshop will discuss the proposals for development of federal level action plan to support provincial Water and Sanitation Hygiene plans.
