Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the Punjab government would have no objection if formula for NFC Award is reviewed with the consensus of the provincial governments and the federation.
Addressing a press conference here at the CM Secretariat, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government and Pakistan Muslim League-N would support every formula which could satisfy all stockholders and further strengthen unity among the federating units and the communities of the country.
Stressing need for a new social contract the CM further said that the country had a democratic government in place; all the democratic political forces should sit together, share their problems and formulate new social contract which could be acceptable to everybody.
Earlier, the CM announced that the Punjab government would construct a cardiac centre equipped with modern and sophisticated means essential for treatment of cardiac patients in Balochistan. This hospital would be built at a cost of Rs 1 billion by a well-reputed firm and would be handed over to the Balochistan government after completion. "This is a small gift from the people of Punjab to the people of Balochistan; in return we want nothing but good wishes and prayers of the poor".
He also announced free dialysis facility to people of Balochistan inhabiting in the districts adjacent to the Punjab province. Moreover, the Punjab government would also provide scholarship to 60 male and female students from Balochistan under Education Endowment Fund in technical educational institutions of the Punjab.
To a question, Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that seat to seat adjustment with PPP in the Punjab for Senate elections would not only strengthen relations between the two parties but also discourage horse trading. To another question, the CM said that his party would participate in Lawyers' Long March but could consider participation in the sit-in also.
Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani welcomed the CM Punjab and thanked the government of Punjab for constructing a well equipped cardiac centre at a cost of Rs 1 billion, provision of scholarship to 60 students and free dialysis facilities to the people of Balochistan in the Punjab Hospitals. Senior Advisor to the Punjab Government Zulfikaar Khosa, Pervez Rashid, Provincial Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri, PML-N President Sardar Yaqoob Nasir and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
