18 Feb, 2009

US cocoa eased while arabica coffee futures fell to a six-week low in early trade on Tuesday, on pressure from the firm dollar, traders said. Arabica coffee for May delivery down 1.50 cent at $1.1350 per lb by 9:13 am EST (1413 GMT), the lowest since January 6. Trading from $1.1270 to $1.1480. May volume a heavy 5,548 lots. The rest up from 1.35 to 1.75 cent.
Meanwhile, benchmark May cocoa down $58 at $2,614 per tonne by 9:15 am with volume at 2,131 lots. Session range from $2,604 to $2,671. The rest from $56 to $67 lower. Weak sterling against the dollar weighed on the US cocoa market, said traders.
