Players at Ecuadorean champions Deportivo Quito have gone on strike over unpaid wages. "It's indefinite," midfielder Oswaldo Mina told daily newspaper La Hora. "It's a decision which the entire group has taken and we won't train until they pay us."
Captain Luis Fernando Saritama said: "At the start of the season there was a promise the club would meet its obligations. We're doing ours by getting results but we're not seeing the same (from the directors)." Deportivo won the championship last season for the first time in 40 years but coach Carlos Sevilla resigned less than one week later in a row over bonus money.
