National Bank of Pakistan President Syed Ali Raza on Friday announced promotion of 5,197 employees of the bank in Grade-II and Grade-I. Addressing the ceremony arranged for the newly promoted officers at NBP Staff College, Ali Raza said that these officers deserved all the appreciation, as they were the real strength of the bank.
He also congratulated the families of promotes and expressed his pleasure on giving benefits to the employees. Commenting on the global economic recession, the NBP president said that economic crisis originated vide cheap borrowing and sub-prime mortgage crisis in US which effected the credit cycle of the whole world.
He said that the economic crisis was an opportunity for Pakistan to expand its horizon to Central Asian and South East Asian markets for capturing more business. The expansion of National Bank of Pakistan franchises in these areas was the futuristic approach the bank has been given. He stressed the need for exploring and encashing the opportunities in the agriculture sector, which is a vast domestic market to cover.
He stressed upon the employees to manage Non Performing Loans (NPLs) which would make their portfolio regular on one side and will keep the profit of the bank on higher side on the other. Speaking on the occasion, Operational Chief National Bank Islamabad Region, Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz lauded the decision of promoting officers and congratulated the employees. He expressed the hope that the employees would keep on working hard to lead the bank towards progress.
