The Lahore High Court (LHC) in an application filed by PML-N MNA, Khawaja Saad Rafiq on Friday issued notices to ex-Federal Minister, Humayon Akhter. According to the petition, Khawaja won the election from NA-125, Lahore against Humayon.
Earlier, Humayun filed a petition alleging that Rafiq had concealed his assets while filing his nomination papers. He said that the respondent, under Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution, was disqualified from being a member of the parliament.
Saad in his petition, appealed to the court to declare the petition against him as non-maintainable. On which, the court issued notices to Humayon for a February 26 hearing. Meanwhile, Humayon in another petition against the PML-N MNA, Rohail Asghar recorded his statement.
Rohail won February 18 general elections from NA-124 (Lahore) constituency defeating Humayon Akhter. Akhter in his petition alleged that Rohail had contested the elections on fake degrees and that he rigged the polls. He prayed to the court to disqualify Rohail from the membership of the NA. The court adjourned hearing of this petition till February 25.
