KUJ and KPC condemn attack on journalists

The Karachi Union of Journalist (KUJ) and Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Friday condemned act of violence and attacks on the journalists allegedly by a group of a political party, which also besieged the offices of a TV channel and newspaper.
President Jawed Asghar and General Secretary Amin Yousuf of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ), President Karachi Press Club (KPC) Imtiaz Khan Faran and Secretary A.H. Khanzada while condemning such cowardly attacks and violence against journalists termed it an attack on the freedom of the press and expression.
They alleged that an unruly mob, which was carrying flags of a political party, clubs and brandishing automatic weapons on I.I. Chundrigar Road started hunting down for the journalists and beating the editor of a daily newspaper and other senior journalists. The mob, which was chanting slogan against the media, blocked the busy I.I. Chundrigar Road for hours, crippling the key artery of the mega city.
