ICT to plant 150,000 saplings in rural areas

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration will plant 150,000 saplings of various species in the rural areas of the city during the current spring tree plantation drive. It was told to Chief Comm-issioner Islamabad Kamran Lashari here on Saturday at Village Mohra Noor where he inaugurated spring tree plantation campaign in the rural areas of Islamabad by planting a sapling.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad Kamran Lashari, while addressing a gathering of local community on the occasion said that Islamabad is the most beautiful and greenest city in the world and its natural beauty and greenery appeals to everyone very much.
The beautiful city of Islamabad and its natural environment is a precious gift of nature for the citizens. Kamran Lashari said that since the urban life has been expanded to the far flung areas because of development and building of infrastructure, therefore the significance of tree plantation drives becomes more important in order to maintain ecological balance.
He said parks and greenbelts have been developed in the city keeping in view the environment requirements and ensuring the protection and preserving the natural environment.
He said that clean and green Islamabad is our motto. Lashari stressed upon the importance of maintaining the natural beauty of Islamabad and planting maximum trees in the city during tree plantation drives. He also emphasised the importance of civic sense in order to keep the city clean and beautiful.
Chief Commissioner ICT Kamran Lashari also appreciated the efforts of ICT Agriculture Extension Services and director AIL Abdul Qadus Malik for the agricultural development of rural area and launching successful tree plantation drives in the rural areas.
Chief Commissioner ICT was informed that ICTA will plant 1,50,000 saplings of various species in the rural areas of Islamabad during the current spring tree plantation drive.
Lashari also appreciated the participation of local community in the tree plantation drive. He thanked the local community and school children who also planted saplings on the occasion. Lashari also stressed post plantation care of saplings.
