The Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges has asked NWFP government to conduct a thorough probe into alleged irregularities in the allotment of plots by the management of Mansehra Development Authority (MDA).
The Committee met at the Parliament House on Saturday under the Chairmanship of Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi held further discussion on the privilege motion moved by Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati on the alleged irresponsible behaviour of the senior management of (MDA) for not providing the record to the Senate Functional Committee on problems of less developed areas. The members of the Committee observed that Parliament and its Committee are supreme.
They expressed dissatisfaction at the reluctance of MDA management in providing the relevant record and observed that such a casual attitude shows that something is wrong at the bottom. Managing Director MDA told the meeting that the allotment record could not be made available in time due to its non-computerisation. He said efforts were being made to complete it manually.
The Committee, however, referred the matter to the provincial government to conduct a thorough inquiry into the alleged irregularities and asked it to fix responsibility in this regard. The meeting was attended by opposition leader in Senate Senator Kamil Ali Agha, senators Dr Muhammad Ismail Beledi, Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, senior officials of the ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Local Government, FIA and MDA.
